We are excited to present a deluxe, culturally immersive journey through China’s Yangtze Delta, renowned for its historical and modern wonders. This unique trip will explore ancient relics and historic sites preserved for centuries, including an excavation site with artifacts over 7,000 years old and the Grand Canal, begun over 2,000 years ago. You’ll also admire modern masterpieces like Buddhist temples, theaters, art museums, and contemporary hotels—such as the deluxe Sheraton Moon Hotel, where we will stay. Many of these architec-tural gems were designed by world-renowned architects like I.M. Pei, Zaha Hadid, and Steven Holl. 

Our journey takes us to both bustling metropolises like Shanghai and Nanjing, and off the beaten path to smaller towns, such as Zhenjiang with its 120-year-old American Consulate, and Cixi, where a thousand-year-old town famed for its beauty and traditional medicine still thrives. We’ll enjoy a ride on China’s bullet trains and a serene cruise on the Grand Canal, still vital for commerce, as well as cross the once-longest trans-oceanic bridge to Ningbo, a historic port city important since the Qin Dynasty. 

Throughout this 21-day journey, we’ll explore traditional Chinese arts such as painting and bonsai gardening, in a region renowned for its art forms like poetry, porcelain, and silk weaving. We’ll also indulge in exquisite cuisine, with each city offering unique gastronomic experiences featuring seafood, meats, and locally sourced vegetables.
